$3 and a Story

Walking to the gym on a freezing NYC morning this past week, a girl standing outside a deli corner stopped me to ask for food. I went into the bodega and got her a bagel with cream cheese and coffee. By the time I came out, tears were streaming down her cheeks. It was easy to tell she had a heart-wrenching life story.

Watery-eyed myself, I looked at this healthy, attractive and capable young lady. I saw a life full of potential. And if you know me, you know – I had to let her know that!

At some point or another in our lives, we all stand broken in cold corners, feeling so paralyzed and tired in spirit that we can’t  see the road ahead.

So I’ll tell you what I told her:
Don’t hang at this corner anymore, lest years go by. You are not your story.  You are you so much more that. You are a divine part of the whole. You are full of possibilities. Ask for help from the universe with determination. Say help me. HELP ME. Show-me-the- way.
Then move, take action.

You are never alone. God/universe is always with you. Remember that.

She began to tell me: I had a job… They have not paid me... I am going to give them one more week…

To which I tell you: Don’t get caught up in your own stories. What happened to you has no bearing on what you can make happen for you. Affirm your commitment for betterment. Step into grace. Be strong. Take action. It won’t be easy. But, it’ll be so worth it.
Oh, to be the person who can help the person you were!

Self-Work This Week

Notice when you feel weak or hurt. Emote, but do not indulge pain or pity. Let it go. Move forward. It’s time to claim your divinity and shape your destiny.
